Position Overview

Semiconductors serve as the backbone of modern electronics, encompassing everything from billions of transistors in advanced processors to micro-sized sensors that monitor motion, air quality, and magnetic fields, as well as high-performance power switches for future electric vehicles.

As a leading provider of MEMS sensors and power semiconductors, Bosch integrates cutting-edge design and manufacturing to develop the technologies of tomorrow.

Laser processing stands out as one of the most pioneering areas in semiconductor manufacturing. This technology enables the realization of advanced functionalities and improved productivity in specific sensor applications. However, to fully harness its potential, a profound understanding of how laser processing affects the properties of semiconductor materials is essential. Particularly for MEMS sensors, managing the influence on mechanical properties is crucial for the successful implementation of new laser techniques in sensor production. We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our research and development team to advance sensor and power semiconductor manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Innovate: Explore the interaction between lasers and semiconductors, analyze the resulting mechanical property changes, utilize state-of-the-art laser processing technology, and develop new process methodologies.
  • Lead Research: Design, execute, and evaluate experiments and simulations, identify physical cause-effect relationships, and apply your insights to guide our internal pre-development towards innovative product and process designs.
  • Collaborate: Become an integral part of our skilled and motivated team, working closely with corporate research and sensor process development within the mobility electronics sector, as well as with relevant global research partners.
Qualifications
  • Education: Exceptional Master’s degree in physics, engineering, natural sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience and Skills:
    • Strong foundation in fundamental and material physics, along with relevant characterization techniques.
    • Familiarity with laser material processing, particularly surface treatments (e.g., ablation, drilling) and ultrashort-pulsed lasers is advantageous.
    • Experience in scientific research, data analysis, interpretation, and presentation, as well as programming (e.g., Python, Matlab) and simulation capabilities.
  • Personal Attributes: Innovative, open-minded, with a willingness to delve deeply into complex subjects, while motivating yourself and others.
  • Work Style: Structured, analytical, conscientious, results-oriented, and collaborative.
