Semiconductors serve as the backbone of modern electronics, featuring prominently in everything from advanced processors to micro-sized sensors that monitor various environmental factors and high-efficiency power switches for electric vehicles.

As a leader in MEMS sensors and power semiconductor technology, Bosch merges innovative design with cutting-edge manufacturing to produce future-ready products.

Laser processing stands out as one of the most groundbreaking areas in semiconductor fabrication. This technology enables the development of advanced functionalities and boosts productivity in specific sensor applications. However, fully harnessing its potential necessitates a comprehensive understanding of how laser processing affects the mechanical properties of semiconductor materials. Particularly for MEMS sensors, managing the influence on mechanical characteristics is crucial for the successful implementation of new laser techniques in sensor production. We are seeking a dedicated individual to contribute to our research and development efforts.

  • Innovate: Delve into the interaction between lasers and semiconductors, exploring the resulting mechanical property changes. Utilize state-of-the-art laser processing technology to formulate new procedural approaches and strategies.
  • Lead: Design, execute, and evaluate experiments and simulations, uncovering physical cause-and-effect relationships to guide our internal pre-development towards innovative product and process designs.
  • Collaborate: Become an integral part of our skilled and motivated team, working closely with corporate research and sensor process development within the mobility electronics sector, as well as with relevant global research partners.
Qualifications
  • Education: A distinguished Master’s degree in physics, engineering, natural sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience and Expertise:
    • Solid foundation in fundamental and material physics along with relevant characterization techniques.
    • Familiarity with laser material processing, particularly surface processing (e.g., ablation, drilling) and ultrashort-pulsed lasers is advantageous.
    • Experience in scientific research, data analysis, interpretation, and presentation, along with programming (e.g., Python, Matlab) and simulation capabilities.
  • Personal Attributes: Innovative, open-minded, with a strong desire to explore complex topics and inspire others.
  • Work Style: Structured, analytical, diligent, results-oriented, and collaborative.
