One of the forefront areas of innovation in semiconductor fabrication is laser processing. This cutting-edge technology enables the enhancement of functionalities and productivity in sensor applications. However, to fully harness its potential, a comprehensive understanding of how laser processing influences the mechanical properties of semiconductor materials is essential. This understanding is particularly vital for MEMS sensors, where managing the mechanical properties is critical for the successful implementation of new laser techniques in manufacturing.

We are seeking a dedicated individual to contribute to our research and development efforts in this exciting domain.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Innovate: Explore the interaction between lasers and semiconductors, investigate the resulting mechanical property changes, and utilize advanced laser processing technologies to develop new methodologies.
  • Conduct Research: Design and execute experiments and simulations, analyze data to establish cause-effect relationships, and apply insights to guide our pre-development initiatives towards innovative product and process designs.
  • Collaborate: Engage with a highly skilled team, working closely with corporate research and sensor process development within the mobility electronics sector, as well as with external research collaborators globally.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A strong Master’s degree in physics, engineering, natural sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proficient understanding of fundamental and material physics, along with characterization techniques. Familiarity with laser material processing, particularly surface techniques (e.g., ablation, drilling) and ultrashort-pulsed lasers, is advantageous. Experience in scientific research, data analysis, and programming (Python, Matlab) is also beneficial.

Additional Information:

The assignment of the dissertation topic will be coordinated through your university, which will serve as the primary contact for your dissertation.
