Head of Commercial Trading

Reporting directly to the Country Managing Director, you will take charge of the trading operations, collaborating across departments to formulate and implement a trading strategy that achieves business objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Formulation of Germany Trading Strategy: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Commercial Directors to create and refine the comprehensive trading strategy for the German market, ensuring that we have detailed plans for all key performance indicators that enhance overall order performance.
- Execution of the Trading Plan: Work alongside marketing, commercial, and delivery teams to ensure alignment on how our customer, commercial, and delivery strategies converge into a cohesive trade-driving plan, ensuring that activities are evaluated in terms of their contribution to the budget and return on investment. Implement the trading plan to meet strategic goals and budgetary targets across all functions.
- Facilitation of Weekly Trading Meetings: Lead the cross-functional weekly trading meetings with senior stakeholders, providing clear reports on performance metrics and forecasts, managing trading forecasts against budget, and identifying opportunities and risks based on the current trading strategy.
- Development of Trading Playbook: Ensure that all activities are retrospectively analyzed and assessed for their business impact, offering insights into broader business strategies and developing a comprehensive playbook detailing trading levers, their effectiveness, and expected returns on future implementations.
- Market Engagement: Collaborate closely with the marketing team to serve as the primary commercial contact, ensuring that we maximize customer plan activations during key moments and promotions.
- Demonstrated experience in a trading role within an e-commerce or retail setting, ideally within a marketplace environment, with a proven track record of meeting established targets.
- Solid understanding of both supply and demand functions, including marketing and sales.
- Strong analytical skills, capable of conducting commercial analysis and translating findings into actionable insights and business improvement opportunities. This role will be supported by analysts for complex data, but the individual must independently analyze and interpret data.
- Exceptional critical thinking abilities, allowing for logical and systematic assessment of situations to reach objective conclusions.
- A keen interest in optimizing trading performance, continuously seeking to understand the effectiveness of trade activations to drive improvements.
- Outstanding influencing and matrix management capabilities, with experience in cross-functional collaboration and fostering a cooperative work environment.
- Strong commercial acumen and entrepreneurial spirit, coupled with the ability to innovate, take initiative, and make calculated risks.
