Commercial Trading Lead

As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for overseeing the trading process, working cross-functionally to build and execute a trading plan that drives business results. Reporting into the Country Managing Director, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive trading strategy that aligns with our business objectives.
Key responsibilities- Developing the overall trading strategy: Work closely with the Commercial Directors to build and develop the overall trading strategy for our German business, ensuring that we have a clear understanding of our customer, commercial, and delivery plans.
- Managing and delivering the trading plan: Collaborate with marketing, commercial, and delivery teams to align on how our customer, commercial, and delivery plans come together to drive a conclusive trade plan, ensuring that activity is sized in terms of contribution to the budget and ROI.
- Weekly trading meetings: Lead cross-functional weekly trade meetings with key senior stakeholders, reporting clearly against performance to data and forecasted performance to come, managing trading forecasts vs. budget, and highlighting opportunities and risks to performance based on our current trade plan.
- Building the trade playbook: Ensure that activity is retrospectively reviewed and measured against benefit to the business, providing insight into the wider business and building a clear playbook in terms of trading levers, their effectiveness, and the ROI we can expect to see in their future implementation.
- Go To Market: Work closely with the marketing team to be the single point of contact on the commercial side of the business to ensure we are maximizing supply-led customer plan activations, such as specific moments or promotions.
- Previous experience within a trading role in an e-commerce or retail environment, preferably within a marketplace business, with a proven ability to achieve against set targets.
- Good working knowledge across supply and demand side functions, such as marketing and sales.
- Analytical skills, able to frame and drive commercial analysis and turn them into concrete insights, actions, and business improvement opportunities.
- Strong critical thinking with the ability to assess a situation logically and systematically to arrive at the most objective conclusions.
- Curiosity for opportunities to optimize trading performance, looking at the latest insights and continuously striving to understand how trade activations performed so we can improve.
- Exceptional influencing and matrix management skills, with experience working cross-functionally and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Strong commercial instinct and entrepreneurial drive combined with the ability to be innovative, take initiative, and calculated risks.
