Molecular Biology Laboratory Technician

The Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy is seeking applications for a Molecular Biology Laboratory Technician, Biological Technician, BSc Biology (m/f/d).

Your Responsibilities


• Cultivation of various cell lines and primary cells.


• Conducting genetic engineering processes, including transfection and transduction using Lenti- and Adenoviral vectors (Safety level S2).


• Extraction and dissection of primary neurons from rodent models.


• Implementation of immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence assays.


• Assisting in laboratory organization, including the maintenance of equipment and management of inventory.


• Documenting workflows, adhering to operational procedures, and following safety and institutional guidelines.


• Methodical instruction of doctoral candidates and support in experimental preparations.

Your Profile

Essential Qualifications:


• Education in Molecular Biology as a Biological Technician, Laboratory Assistant, or a BSc in Biology.


• FELASA certification and experience in tissue extraction and dissection from rodents.


• Extensive practical experience with cell cultures (minimum of 2 years in a laboratory setting).


• Familiarity with genetic engineering techniques and experience in S2 biosafety facilities is highly advantageous.


• A strong interest in neurobiology and biomaterials.


• Ability to work methodically, precisely, and in a structured manner with repetitive tasks.


• Proficient in spoken and written English.


• Proficiency in German is considered an asset.


• Basic computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


• A confident and approachable demeanor, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a diverse team environment.

Additional Information

This position is part of a research project.


• The role offers a project-based contract with potential for extension.


• Engage in innovative projects funded by the EIC in the field of neuromodulation, contributing to advancements in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.


• Collaborate with an international and interdisciplinary team of scientists.


• The position is based in Erlangen, Germany.

Compensation

Salary according to TV-L E 7 — 9a.
