Molecular Biology Laboratory Technician

The Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy is seeking applications for a Molecular Biology Laboratory Technician, Biological Technician, BSc Biology (m/f/d).

Your Responsibilities


• Cultivation of cell lines and primary cells


• Genetic modification techniques (e.g., transfection and transduction) utilizing Lenti- and Adenoviral vectors (Safety level S2)


• Extraction and dissection of primary neurons from rodent models


• Implementation of immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence assays


• Assistance in laboratory organization, including equipment upkeep and inventory control


• Documentation of procedures, adherence to operating protocols, and compliance with safety and institutional regulations


• Methodical training of doctoral candidates and support in experimental preparations

Your Profile

Essential Qualifications:


• Educational background in Molecular Biology as a 'Biologielaborant', BTA, Laboratory Assistant, or BSc in Biology


• FELASA certification and experience in tissue extraction and dissection from rodents


• Extensive practical experience with cell cultures (minimum of 2 years in a laboratory setting)


• Familiarity with genetic engineering methodologies and experience in S2 biosafety facilities is highly advantageous


• Strong interest in neurobiology and biomaterials


• Ability to work methodically, carefully, and in a structured manner with repetitive tasks


• Proficient in spoken and written English


• Proficiency in German is considered a plus


• Basic computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


• Friendly and confident demeanor, with the ability to collaborate in a multicultural environment

Additional Information

This is a project-based position.


• 1-year contract with potential for extension


• Engage in innovative EIC-funded projects in neuromodulation, contributing to advancements in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases


• Become part of an international and interdisciplinary team of researchers, collaborating with leading scientific institutions across Europe and beyond.


• Compensation will be according to TV-L and qualifications.
