The Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy is seeking applications for a Molecular Biology Laboratory Technician, Cell Culture Specialist, Biological Laboratory Assistant (m/f/d).
Your Responsibilities
• Cultivation of cell lines and primary cells.
• Genetic manipulation techniques, including transfection and transduction using Lenti- and Adenoviral vectors (Safety level S2).
• Extraction and dissection of primary neurons from rodent models.
• Implementation of immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence assays.
• Assistance in laboratory organization, including maintenance of equipment and inventory management.
• Documentation of laboratory workflows, adherence to operating procedures, and compliance with safety and institutional policies.
• Methodical training of doctoral candidates and support in experimental preparations.
Essential Qualifications:
• Educational background in Molecular Biology as a Biological Laboratory Technician, BTA, or a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.
• FELASA certification and experience in tissue extraction and dissection from rodents.
• Extensive practical experience with cell cultures (minimum of 2 years in a laboratory setting).
• Familiarity with genetic engineering techniques and experience in S2 biosafety facilities is highly advantageous.
• A strong interest in neurobiology and biomaterials.
• Ability to work meticulously, carefully, and in a structured manner with repetitive tasks.
• Proficient in spoken and written English.
• Proficiency in German is considered a plus.
• Basic computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Friendly and confident demeanor, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural environment.
This position is part of a project-based research initiative.
• The role offers a one-year contract with the potential for extension.
• Engage in innovative EIC-funded projects in the field of neuromodulation, contributing to advancements in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
• Become a member of an international and interdisciplinary team of scientists, collaborating with leading research institutions across Europe and beyond.
Salary according to TV-L E 7 — 9a.
Working HoursFull-time position.
