We seek a passionate researcher eager to delve into the neural mechanisms of behavior in fruit flies, utilizing state-of-the-art optical imaging and behavioral methodologies.

Available research topics:

Depending on your research interests, a variety of projects are available that examine the neural circuits associated with behavior, such as those related to learning, memory, or sleep patterns. Our laboratory employs advanced techniques including two-photon calcium imaging and optogenetics to study the fruit fly brain during active behavior. Over recent years, we have pioneered several innovative methods for optical microscopy, imaging, and optogenetics, particularly in the context of flies interacting in virtual environments, as well as for behavioral quantification. These techniques are now being utilized to uncover the computational processes of neural circuits.

Candidate expectations:

  • A master's degree in neuroscience, biophysics, physics, physical chemistry, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in programming languages for data analysis (Python, Matlab) and a keen interest in quantitative methodologies for analyzing behavior and neural circuits.
  • Enthusiasm for computational modeling, large dataset analysis, and the application of modern data analysis techniques, including machine learning.
  • A desire to engage with and comprehend custom-designed scientific instruments.
