We are seeking a highly motivated researcher to join our team at the Max-Planck-Institute for Neurobiology of Behaviour – caesar (MPINB) in Bonn, Germany.
About the Position
We are looking for a Ph.D. candidate to investigate neural circuits underlying behavior in the fruit fly Drosophila using advanced optical imaging and behavior techniques.
Available Projects
Our lab studies the brain of the fruit fly using two-photon calcium imaging and optogenetics in behaving animals. We have developed advanced methods for optical microscopy, imaging, and optogenetics, particularly in flies behaving in virtual reality, as well as for the quantification of behavior.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on neural circuits underlying behavior in Drosophila using advanced optical imaging and behavior techniques.
- Develop and apply computational models for data analysis and interpretation.
- Collaborate with our team to design and implement experiments.
- Present research findings at international conferences and publish in top-tier journals.
Requirements
- Master's degree in neuroscience, biophysics, physics, physical chemistry, engineering, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python or Matlab.
- Experience with data analysis and computational modeling.
- Interest in working with custom-built scientific instruments.
