About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to lead our Explore & Discover area, driving the development of essential tools and products for our online marketplace. As a key member of our leadership team, you will shape the product and engineering vision, ensuring seamless and effective experiences for our users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of 3-5 teams with approximately 30 engineers, overseeing their success and growth.
  • Develop and implement strategies to create tools and products that resonate with our users, align with customer needs, and contribute to the success of our business.
  • Establish the right structure for the area to grow further, ensuring alignment with the company vision, mission, and current objectives and key results.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Product to drive engineering excellence and leverage new technology within our product teams.
  • Monitor and own relevant KPIs for the area, including cost, SLAs, SLIs, and other key performance indicators.
  • Contribute to our guidelines, policies, and standards to improve how we work.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in building and shaping cross-functional product teams/organizations, with a strong background in engineering scalable web applications and databases in modern environments.
  • Deep knowledge of our full-stack tech stack, including JavaScript & TypeScript for backends and frontends, with Vue 3 experience being a plus.
  • Proficiency in utilizing monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog) and profiling tools (e.g., Chrome DevTools, Blackfire).
  • Familiarity with distributed search engines, with bonus points for experience with the Elasticstack.
  • Excellent communication, ownership, and execution skills, with the ability to lead by example and drive change.
  • Ability to plan ahead, make tough decisions, and execute with a focus on the bigger picture.
