Apparel Development Specialist for Sportswear

Position Overview
In the role of Apparel Development Specialist, you will take charge of the product development cycle for designated styles, guiding them from the initial seasonal concept to full market launch. This position requires effective collaboration with internal departments and external suppliers to facilitate a seamless transition from design to production, while adhering to quality benchmarks, budget constraints, and timelines.
Core Responsibilities
- Align product designs with target pricing through proactive cost analysis. Review and authorize cost estimates at each phase of the development process, engaging in negotiations with suppliers as needed.
- Manage the transition from design to production, ensuring all necessary information is complete. Foster a feedback mechanism for ongoing enhancements in quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee the accuracy of data input by suppliers at critical project milestones. Assess prototypes for adherence to design specifications, fit, color accuracy, and material quality. Maintain a feedback loop with suppliers.
- Guarantee that all materials and prototypes comply with established quality and safety regulations. Address any quality concerns with senior leadership.
- Review and sanction sealing samples prior to production readiness, ensuring all standards and compliance requirements are met.
Key Collaborations
- Work in conjunction with Design, Marketing, and Product Operations teams. Engage closely with suppliers for merchandising and pattern development. Coordinate efforts with Merchandising, Technical Services, and Costing departments.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Comprehensive understanding of material construction and testing methodologies. Familiarity with garment production and manufacturing workflows.
- Capability to evaluate garment fit and effectively communicate required adjustments to suppliers. Strong negotiation and interpersonal communication skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Advanced proficiency in IT applications, including MS Office and Product Data Management Systems. Willingness to travel as necessary.
Educational Background and Experience
- A minimum of a four-year degree in clothing technology, manufacturing, or a related discipline. 1-3 years of relevant experience in the garment or textile sector.
