Apparel Developer for Sportswear

Job Title: Apparel Developer for Sportswear & Training Graphics (m/f/d)

Role Overview

In the capacity of an Apparel Developer, you will take charge of the product development cycle for designated styles, guiding them from the initial seasonal launch to the final commercialization phase. This position necessitates close collaboration with various internal teams and external suppliers to facilitate a seamless transition from design to production, while adhering to quality benchmarks, pricing objectives, and project timelines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain consistency between target pricing and product designs through proactive costing strategies. Assess and validate costing details at each phase of the development process, engaging in negotiations with suppliers as required.
  • Manage the transition from design to production, ensuring that all necessary information is complete. Foster a feedback mechanism aimed at continuous enhancement of quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee the precise entry of data by suppliers at critical project milestones. Assess prototypes for compliance with design specifications, fit, color accuracy, and material quality. Facilitate ongoing feedback to suppliers.
  • Ensure that all materials and prototypes conform to established quality and safety standards. Address any quality concerns with senior management promptly.
  • Review and authorize sealing samples prior to readiness for purchase, ensuring adherence to all relevant standards and regulations.

Key Collaborations

  • Engage with Design, Marketing, and Product Operations teams. Work in close partnership with suppliers on merchandising and pattern development. Coordinate efforts with Merchandising, Technical Services, and Costing teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Comprehensive understanding of material construction and testing methodologies. Familiarity with garment production and manufacturing processes.
  • Capability to evaluate garment fit and effectively communicate necessary adjustments to suppliers. Strong negotiation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Advanced proficiency in IT applications, including MS Office and Product Data Management Systems. Willingness to travel as required.

Educational Background and Experience

  • A minimum of a four-year degree in clothing technology, manufacturing, or a related discipline. 1-3 years of relevant experience in the garment or textile sector.
