Student Services Coordinator (m/f/d) Overview

New York University Berlin is seeking a dedicated full-time Coordinator of Student Services to join our Academic Center team.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Coordinator of Student Services collaborates closely with the Program Manager of Student Life to deliver a comprehensive range of services aimed at enhancing student experience. This includes managing community initiatives, overseeing communications, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and supporting residential life services. Additionally, this role involves training and supervising a team of Resident Assistants, fostering their integration into the broader student services framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Services (35%)

  • Provide administrative assistance to the Program Manager, including the development of protocols, statistical reporting, and scheduling; coordinate student programming and advising services; create communication strategies; and manage incident documentation.
  • Guide the Student Life Administrator to facilitate the timely processing of local police registrations, university enrollments, and visa applications for incoming students.
  • Offer support to students seeking external services, such as medical appointments or insurance inquiries.
  • Document student conduct incidents and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Organize student organizations and volunteer initiatives.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Program Manager and Site Director.

Supervision of Resident Assistants (20%)

  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to train and oversee up to three Resident Assistants.
  • Ensure the smooth integration of Resident Assistants within the Student Life team.

Student Safety and Wellness (20%)

  • Participate in the on-call emergency response rotation and be available to address crises during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Coordination of Extracurricular Learning Programs (15%)

  • Work alongside the Academics team to design and implement immersive student programming, including workshops, city excursions, and trips to nearby areas.
  • Accompany students on short trips each semester.

Communication (10%)

  • Maintain effective communication with students regarding all aspects of Student Life. Produce content for the weekly Student Newsletter and manage social media communications.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education

  • A Bachelor's degree is essential.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in producing and editing written materials in English (e.g., handbooks, newsletters).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in both German and English.
  • Commitment to service excellence and high-quality outcomes.
  • Familiarity with macOS, Microsoft Windows, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office.

Required Work Permit

  • A valid work permit for Germany is necessary.
