Job Overview

As the Senior Project Management Director, you will be responsible for the oversight of intricate, high-stakes, and time-sensitive projects within the Life Sciences domain. Reporting to the Senior Director of Project Management, you will spearhead the growth and development of the local Project Management team. Your position will involve actively influencing and enhancing project execution and strategic direction, while assisting teams in meeting their strategic goals effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing all project management initiatives for demanding, time-sensitive, and client-specific projects.
  • Identifying, assessing, and communicating critical project risks, while driving risk management strategies.
  • Monitoring, maintaining, and reporting on variances in the integrated project budget in close cooperation with relevant departments and the Finance team.
  • Overseeing ongoing projects, tracking deliverables, and ensuring timely invoicing in partnership with Finance.
  • Fostering effective teamwork, addressing challenges proactively, and supporting the project review process.
  • Strategically planning and collaborating with Team Leads and Business Development across all Axolabs locations.
Qualifications

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a scientific field, with a preference for a Master's degree or PhD, along with specialized training in project management such as ASQ Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with project management tools including Asana, MS Project, Instagantt, and Salesforce, as well as procurement systems like Ariba, IFS, Filemaker, and Chase System, in addition to MS Office.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities, with experience in supporting cross-functional teams, ideally within the pharmaceutical or biotech sectors.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the drug development process in pharmaceutical or biotech companies, preferably with a background in Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex information to diverse audiences in both formal and informal contexts.
  • A high degree of independence in work, a collaborative spirit, and a strong commitment to achieving success while motivating others.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken German and English, with a willingness to travel, including international trips.
