Team Overview

The Non-Financial Risk Management (NFRM) team operates under the Chief Risk Office within the CFO division at Deutsche Bank.

The Chief Risk Office serves as an independent control function, responsible for managing financial, non-financial, and investment risks across Deutsche Bank Group and its subsidiaries.

The NFRM team functions as a second line of defense (2LoD) for enterprise risk management, with the current mandate to:
  • Develop and uphold the Non-Financial Risk Management Policy and associated Implementation Procedures, forming the Operational Risk Management Framework and the Reputational Risk Management Framework, ensuring compliance by first and second line functions.
  • Act as NFRM Coverage, with regional teams (EMEA, USA, APAC) serving as NFRM Coverage and Risk Type Controllers as defined within the Operational Risk Management Framework.
As a Senior Risk Manager, you will be an integral part of the NFRM team in Europe, reporting directly to the global Head of NFRM. This position serves as the global lead specialist for Information Technology Risk Management within the NFRM, collaborating with representatives from all three lines of defense (e.g., Financial Risk and Non-Financial Risk teams, Divisional Control Office, Procurement, IT Risk, Audit, and relevant second line functions like Compliance and AFC).

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Risk Manager, your responsibilities will include:
  • Establishing baseline standards for managing information technology risk across the global organization, in alignment with regulatory mandates.
  • Defining requirements for minimum standards within a new IT Risk Management Policy, in consultation with relevant control functions in IT and Information Security.
  • Developing qualitative and quantitative metrics to enhance the Risk Appetite Statement related to IT risk.
  • Collaborating with IT and Information Security colleagues to create and disseminate training on associated policies, procedures, and controls once a framework is established.
  • Supporting the achievement of organizational and NFRM priorities, including risk and control assessments, scenario planning, risk appetite monitoring, and metrics related to IT risk.
  • Engaging with Deutsche Bank Group NFRM and Data Management functions to share information and ensure alignment with Group requirements.
  • Working closely with NFRM colleagues to provide support for regulatory and ad hoc initiatives addressing IT risk management requirements.
Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with:
  • A university degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Natural Sciences, or a related field.
  • Over 8 years of experience in operational risk management or front office IT risk management roles, preferably within the finance sector, consulting, or IT audit.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry and regulatory assessment frameworks and standards.
  • Professional certifications such as Lead Auditor or Non-Financial Risk Management are advantageous.
  • A solid understanding of risk management principles and experience in compliance with MaRisk requirements.
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in German is preferred.
  • Exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships within the organization.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard risk management applications is highly desirable.
