Role Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Decision and Control Engineer with a passion for automotive electronics, eager to shape the future of ADAS/AD systems and enhance in-cabin user experiences.

As a Principal Decision and Control Engineer in the ADAS LAB, you will be recognized as an authority in ADAS/AD decision-making and control, possessing a comprehensive understanding of related fields. Within our ADAS Lab, your responsibilities will include analyzing and benchmarking ADAS/AD technology trends in decision-making and control, while also serving as an internal consultant for partnership evaluations, design, architecture, validation concepts, and feature integration teams. Collaborating with colleagues in Technology, Product, and Partnerships, you will assess ADAS/AD market and technology trends, evaluate customer and competitor offerings, and explore partnership opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct ongoing analysis and benchmarking of ADAS/AD technology trends in the decision-making and control sector, serving as an internal consultant within the ADAS Lab, particularly regarding partnership evaluations. Ensure that the ADAS Lab team remains informed about cutting-edge decision-making and control technology trends, integrating these insights into work products. Provide expert technical guidance on control software integration with safety-capable hardware (e.g., SoC safety island or IoC with RTOS), actuator design choices, and control stack validation. Collaborate with subject matter experts, clients, partners, suppliers, and academic institutions to design ADAS/AD systems for Infotainment Domain Controllers with ADAS capabilities extending to central computing units. Facilitate knowledge management and deliver training sessions within Divisional Technology.

Qualifications Required

PhD in Control Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Over 7 years of practical experience in Decision and Control technology for ADAS/AD systems (e.g., Highway Assist, Traffic Jam Pilot, Automated Parking Assist) within OEM programs. Strong expertise in the ADAS/AD technology stack, encompassing situation awareness (e.g., Bayesian networks), behavior, motion and trajectory planning (e.g., hybrid A*, reinforcement learning, LQR, polynomial and heuristic algorithms), and vehicle control (e.g., PID, MPC), including actuator capabilities. Solid understanding of Functional Safety (ISO26262) and Safety of the Intended Functionality (ISO21448), particularly concerning ADAS/AD decision-making and control corner cases. Familiarity with control software integration on ADAS/AD computing platforms and safety-capable deployment options (safety island, IoC with AUTOSAR). Proven technical leadership abilities with a knack for motivating and inspiring teams. Advanced knowledge of ADAS/AD sensors for ego and environmental perception, applicable industry standards (e.g., ASPICE), and best practices, as well as emerging technologies and trends in the decision-making and control domain.
