Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Decision and Control professional with a passion for automotive electronics, eager to shape the future of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and in-cabin user experiences.
As the Principal Decision and Control Engineer within the ADAS LAB, you will be a specialist in ADAS/AD decision-making and control, possessing a comprehensive understanding of all related domains. In our ADAS Lab, your responsibilities will include continuous analysis and benchmarking of ADAS/AD technology trends in the decision and control area, as well as serving as an internal consultant for partnership evaluations, enabling Design, Architecture & Validation Concepts, and Feature Integration teams. Collaborating with colleagues in Technology, Product, and Partnerships, you will assess ADAS/AD market and technology trends, evaluate customer and competitor offerings, and explore partnership opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct ongoing analysis and benchmarking of ADAS/AD technology trends in the decision and control sector, acting as an internal consultant within the ADAS Lab, particularly for partnership evaluations. Ensure that the ADAS Lab team is informed about the latest decision and control technology trends and that these trends are adequately reflected in their outputs. Provide technical direction, particularly regarding control software integration on safety-capable hardware (e.g., SoC safety island or IoC with RTOS), actuator design choices (e.g., deployment, configuration), and validation of control stacks. Collaborate with subject matter experts, clients, partners, suppliers, and academic institutions to design ADAS/AD systems for Infotainment Domain Controllers with ADAS capabilities up to central computing units. Facilitate knowledge management and deliver training within Divisional Technology.Qualifications
PhD in Control Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. Over 7 years of practical experience in Decision and Control technology for ADAS/AD systems (e.g., Highway Assist, Traffic Jam Pilot, Automated Parking Assist) within OEM programs. Core expertise in the ADAS/AD technology stack, encompassing situation awareness (e.g., Bayesian networks), behavior, motion & trajectory planning (e.g., hybrid A*, reinforcement learning, LQR, polynomial and heuristic algorithms), and vehicle control (e.g., PID, MPC), including actuator capabilities (e.g., responsiveness, redundancy). Strong understanding of Functional Safety (ISO26262) and Safety of the Intended Functionality (ISO21448), particularly concerning ADAS/AD decision and control corner cases. Familiarity with control software integration on ADAS/AD computing platforms and safety-capable deployment options (safety island, IoC with AUTOSAR). Proven technical leadership abilities and the capacity to inspire and motivate teams. Advanced knowledge of ADAS/AD sensors for ego and environmental perception, relevant industry standards (e.g., ASPICE), and best practices, as well as technology trends (e.g., end-to-end reinforcement planning) within the decision and control domain.What We Provide
