The lab is part of the interdisciplinary initiative TUM Venture Labs, which focuses on the start-up ecosystem in Deep Tech and Life Sciences. We currently support over 30 ventures and have developed an effective ecosystem that aids our growing pipeline of venture teams and entrepreneurs through attractive training programs, tailored coaching, a robust network of industry experts, and expertise in intellectual property and fundraising.

Position: Director of Operations for Chemical Start-up Hub (m/f/d)

Location: Garching & Munich

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Your Responsibilities
- Oversee venture teams with innovative ideas in chemistry, such as drug development, protein engineering, or energy/catalysis applications (e.g., hydrogen, batteries) and create tailored offerings based on their needs and stages of development.
- Engage researchers and students while enhancing ChemSPACE-specific training programs for aspiring entrepreneurs throughout the innovation cycle.
- Organize and manage laboratory infrastructure for start-up teams.
- Lead team members within the TUM Venture Lab ChemSPACE.
- Maintain and expand external networks: Grow the external community with experts, investors, and companies, and represent TUM Venture Labs at events and conferences.
- Contribute to sponsor management and budget oversight.
- Collaborate closely with other venture labs and programs within UnternehmerTUM and the TUM School of Natural Sciences.

Your Profile
- Completed scientific higher education (Diploma, Master’s, PhD) in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering (preferably in inorganic chemistry).
- Experience with incubation programs or collaboration with start-ups in chemistry-related fields (drug development, protein engineering, or energy and catalysis) or in innovation management.
- A team player and self-starter with the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and proactively contribute expertise.
- Strong organizational skills in (agile) project management and leadership experience.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- High level of personal responsibility and a strong 'Get-Things-Done' mentality.
