Director of Cost Management and Engineering

Job Overview
We are seeking a Director of Cost Management and Engineering (m/f/diverse) to enhance our Automotive Business Area.
Your responsibilities will encompass the following:
Leadership Responsibilities
Overseeing the global cost management team (including leaders and staff) Advising senior management and related departments Developing and refining the vision and strategy for cost management Integrating cost management practices into the overall organizational frameworkGuidance & Oversight
Implementing cost engineering methodologies on a global scale Ensuring accountability for all financial objectives in customer project proposals Training and developing specialists in cost management, adapting team roles to meet business demands Collaborating with all project-related functions to establish standards and processesCost Management Focus
Leading initiatives for cost reduction throughout all project phases Conducting financial assessments of technical designs and alternatives Evaluating costs, setting targets, and benchmarking for products and processes during the quotation phase Facilitating a global cost review process for selected products in production Analyzing financial implications of standardization strategies Implementing cost improvement initiatives for key components and monitoring their execution Assessing and driving make-or-buy decisions from both operational and strategic perspectives Engaging with suppliers to stay abreast of technical advancements and enhance cost management expertiseSupport Functions
Assisting procurement in supplier negotiations from both technical and financial viewpoints, including cost-value analysis Supporting project and sales teams in negotiations with customers, focusing on technical and financial aspects (concepts, cost breakdowns, change management) Aiding in the evaluation of business casesRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in economics or industrial engineering (preferred) with a focus on controlling or similar qualifications Extensive experience in cost management/cost engineering and project oversight within a multinational technology-driven organization, ideally in the automotive sector Proven track record in project management and collaboration with cross-functional teams Knowledge of product costing, cost engineering, and project management, with a preference for experience in purchasing and business development Strong business insight and a comprehensive understanding of both commercial and technical aspects of business Experience in executing financial process and tool implementations Significant experience in leading teams and working with international groups Solid technical knowledge Familiarity with financial and controlling systems (e.g., SAP, cost engineering tools, MS Office, accounting, data analytics) Proficiency in both German and English, written and spoken Strong intercultural and social skills, with experience in leading international, interdisciplinary, and virtual teams Excellent management and communication abilities Analytical mindset, strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and problem-solving capabilitiesWe encourage applications from individuals with disabilities.
