We are currently seeking a skilled quantum hardware engineer with a strong background in the design, assembly, and commissioning of ion-trap or atomic physics hardware.
Your Role
As a key member of our team, you will:
- Utilize your expertise in ion trapping or atomic physics to create and assemble hardware for ion-trap quantum computing.
- Build hardware platforms, integrate control systems, and troubleshoot custom control software to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct experiments in a laboratory environment, meticulously documenting tests, measurements, and system characteristics to inform product development.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Software Engineers, Physicists, and Quantum Engineers to drive innovation.
- Lead the exploration of new concepts and technologies for future product offerings.
Qualifications
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience with laser cooling and trapping of ions or atoms.
- Hands-on experience in assembling ion-trap and ultra-high-vacuum systems.
- Strong background in designing and testing laser, detection, magnetic, RF, and/or microwave hardware systems.
- Familiarity with precision-timed control systems and signal processing techniques.
- Knowledge of quantum computing, quantum control, and/or quantum information processing.
- Ability to perform simulations and modeling to support experimental work.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in areas such as ion trapping, atomic physics, laser systems, ultra-high vacuum systems, detection systems, microwave technology, or magnetic field environments.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a record of published research.
- Strong organizational abilities and experience collaborating with clients and partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postdoctoral experience in a related field.
- Experience with ion trap quantum computing hardware.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
