About Us
At Universal Quantum, we are pioneering the future of technology by developing groundbreaking quantum computing systems. We are seeking a skilled quantum hardware engineer who possesses a robust background in the design, assembly, and commissioning of ion-trap or atomic physics hardware tailored for quantum applications.
Your Role
As a quantum hardware engineer, you will:
- Utilize your expertise in ion trapping or atomic physics to innovate and construct hardware for ion-trap quantum computing.
- Assemble intricate hardware platforms, integrate control systems, and resolve issues with custom control software.
- Conduct experiments in a laboratory environment, meticulously document tests, measurements, and system characteristics, and leverage findings to enhance product development.
- Collaborate with a diverse and experienced team of Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Software Engineers, Physicists, and Quantum Engineers.
- Lead the advancement of new concepts and technologies for upcoming products.
Qualifications
Key Attributes for Evaluation
- Proven experience with laser cooling and trapping of ions or atoms.
- Expertise in assembling ion-trap and ultra-high-vacuum systems.
- Experience in designing and testing laser, detection, magnetic, RF, and/or microwave hardware systems.
- Familiarity with precision-timed control systems and signal processing.
- Background in quantum computing, quantum control, and/or quantum information processing.
- Capability to perform simulations and modeling to inform experimental designs.
Essential Requirements
- PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience (including degree) in areas such as ion trapping, atomic physics, laser systems, ultra-high vacuum systems, detection systems, or microwave technology.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a record of published research.
- Strong organizational abilities and experience in collaborating with clients and partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postdoctoral experience in a related field.
- Experience with ion trap quantum computing hardware.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
