About Us
At Universal Quantum, we are pioneering groundbreaking advancements in quantum computing technology. We are seeking a dedicated Quantum Hardware Engineer with expertise in the design, assembly, and commissioning of ion-trap or atomic physics hardware essential for quantum innovations.
Your Role
As a Quantum Hardware Engineer, you will:
- Utilize your background in ion trapping or atomic physics to engineer and construct hardware for ion-trap quantum computing.
- Assemble intricate hardware systems, integrate control mechanisms, and resolve issues with bespoke control software.
- Conduct laboratory experiments, meticulously document tests, measurements, and system attributes, and leverage findings to enhance product development.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Software Engineers, Physicists, and Quantum Engineers.
- Lead the exploration of innovative concepts and technologies for upcoming products.
Qualifications
Key Attributes for Consideration
- Proficiency in laser cooling and trapping of ions or atoms.
- Experience in assembling ion-trap and ultra-high-vacuum systems.
- Capability in designing and evaluating laser, detection, magnetic, RF, and/or microwave hardware systems.
- Familiarity with precision-timed control systems and signal processing techniques.
- Background in quantum computing, quantum control, and/or quantum information processing.
- Ability to perform simulations and modeling to guide experimental work.
Essential Requirements
- PhD or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in areas such as ion trapping, atomic physics, laser systems, ultra-high vacuum systems, detection systems, or microwave technology.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a record of published research.
- Strong organizational abilities and experience in collaborating with clients and partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postdoctoral experience.
- Familiarity with ion trap quantum computing hardware.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
