Your Role and Contributions

In this position, you will significantly influence our projects by designing locomotive control software and overseeing extensive software architecture. Your responsibilities will span the entire engineering lifecycle, from defining requirements to system design, implementation, and ongoing enhancements.

  • Develop functional concepts and establish system requirements for both software and hardware.
  • Design, implement, and validate PLC software applications in collaboration with a diverse international team for locomotive and passenger coach controls.
  • Coordinate and refine the structure and architecture of control software.
  • Collaborate with various engineering stakeholders to formulate software architecture guidelines and development strategies.
  • Define and manage internal and external software interface structures.
  • Oversee the development of software tools aimed at continuous improvement in software engineering practices.
  • Emphasize the reusability and maintainability of your work in alignment with our successful product and technical platform strategies.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of software requirements and specifications, alongside testing procedures.
  • Engage in training new team members, creating training materials, and facilitating technical workshops.

Your Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline is essential.
  • A robust understanding of software structures and development principles, supported by extensive experience in vehicle control platform development.
  • Proven experience in safety and certification functions, including verification processes in accordance with relevant standards.
  • Significant experience in vehicle control and automation technologies; familiarity with Siemens railway automation systems is advantageous.
  • Strong background in collaborating with international teams and managing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of German and other European languages is beneficial for our multi-site engineering collaboration.
  • Willingness to undertake occasional international travel as part of your role.
