Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior PostgreSQL and Redshift Database Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale database systems using PostgreSQL and Redshift.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Database Administration
  • Design and implement database architectures for large-scale applications
  • Develop and maintain database performance, security, and backup procedures
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure database compatibility and performance
Database Engineering
  • Design and implement database solutions using PostgreSQL and Redshift
  • Develop and maintain database scripts and procedures
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure database compatibility and performance
Technical Leadership
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure database compatibility and performance
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation

Requirements

  1. 5+ years of experience in database administration and engineering
  2. Strong understanding of core database concepts, including vacuuming, indexing/partitioning, buffer management, database parameter tuning, upgrades, maintenance, user management, and backups
  3. Hands-on experience managing PostgreSQL and Redshift on EC2 and RDS platforms
  4. Proficiency in monitoring tools such as Prometheus and CloudWatch
  5. Container management (Docker, Kubernetes etc)
  6. Experience in agile software development (XP, Scrum, Kanban etc)
  7. SQL (PostgreSQL and Amazon Redshift etc) and noSQL (Redis etc) database experience
  8. Message broker experience for pub sub and queueing technologies (AWS SQS, Kafka etc)
  9. Amazon Web Services
  10. Proficient English skills

Nice to Have

  1. Familiarity with database tools and technologies such as Flyway, Liquibase, PGPM, PgBouncer, and Pgpool, Redshift
  2. Python
  3. Experience with Software Security and Network Security
  4. Technical leadership experience
  5. People management is a plus, however coding and software engineering is the central work for this role
  6. Data Science experience
