Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior PostgreSQL and Redshift Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale PostgreSQL and Redshift databases.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Administration
- Design, implement, and maintain large-scale PostgreSQL and Redshift databases
- Ensure database performance, security, and scalability
- Develop and implement database backup and recovery strategies
- Design and implement database architectures and solutions
- Develop and maintain database scripts and tools
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure database integration and compatibility
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members
- Participate in technical discussions and decision-making processes
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in database administration and engineering
- Strong understanding of core database concepts, including vacuuming, indexing/partitioning, buffer management, database parameter tuning, upgrades, maintenance, user management, and backups
- Hands-on experience managing PostgreSQL and Redshift on EC2 and RDS platforms
- Proficiency in monitoring tools such as Prometheus and CloudWatch
- Container management (Docker, Kubernetes etc)
- Experience in agile software development (XP, Scrum, Kanban etc)
- SQL (PostgreSQL and Amazon Redshift etc) and noSQL (Redis etc) database experience
- Message broker experience for pub sub and queueing technologies (AWS SQS, Kafka etc)
- Amazon Web Services
- Proficient English skills
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with database tools and technologies such as Flyway, Liquibase, PGPM, PgBouncer, and Pgpool, Redshift
- Python
- Experience with Software Security and Network Security
- Technical leadership experience
- People management is a plus, however coding and software engineering is the central work for this role
- Data Science experience
