The Director of Sales Operations is responsible for managing current business workflows through continuous collaboration with various support functions to ensure alignment and optimization of processes.
It is essential for the Director of Sales Operations to ensure the quality, precision, and consistency of Sales KPIs reporting and monitoring.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Development and Execution
- Collaborate with sales leadership to devise and implement sales strategies and processes that enhance sales efficiency – identifying areas for process enhancement.
- Simplify sales workflows to align with and leverage synergies from other departments.
- Work closely with relevant sales leaders to establish optimal performance metrics and management programs that guarantee the success of the sales organization.
- Identify and prioritize critical areas for enhancement within the sales process, ensuring a customer-focused approach throughout the Customer Buying Journey.
Sales Technology and Data Analysis:
- Oversee CRM/D365 CE, sales automation tools, and other technologies, ensuring seamless integration and adoption of sales systems and tools.
- Analyze sales data to provide insights on sales KPIs and highlight areas for improvement.
- Coordinate with sales leadership and stakeholders to lead effective and accurate sales analytics initiatives.
- Conduct regular audits of existing tools to identify gaps.
- Supervise the design, selection, and adoption of enhanced tools.
- Collaborate with the Sales Director, Head of Sales Enablement, and IT to drive the associated sales technology strategy.
Sales Training and Onboarding:
- Partner with the Head of Sales Enablement, HR, and other departments to create training programs for sales representatives, ensuring smooth onboarding for new hires and ongoing improvements to enhance knowledge of sales systems and processes.
- Work closely with the Head of Sales to design and implement a sales training plan focused on developing and reinforcing essential sales skills and professional growth.
Leadership Duties
- Build and lead a high-performing sales operations team.
- Provide strategic counsel to the sales leader regarding targeted growth, operational efficiency, and capital strategy initiatives.
- Encourage a culture of continuous process improvement within the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in business management, finance, or a related field; a Master of Business Administration is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in leading sales operations within a high-growth environment (or equivalent roles such as revenue operations, commercial operations, or marketing operations).
- Demonstrated success in analyzing, designing, and enhancing sales processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to logically assess problems and develop effective solutions.
- Exceptional leadership capabilities and experience in managing teams.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and summarize progress for senior executives.
- Creative and strategic thinker with the agility to manage both detailed analysis and overarching strategy.
- Self-motivated individual who sets ambitious goals and is committed to achieving both personal and professional success; focused on productivity and dedicated to quality and integrity.
- In-depth understanding of sales performance metrics and KPIs, with experience in sales quota and compensation plan design, sales forecasting, or sales analytics being advantageous.
- Proficient in productivity tools, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
- Solid knowledge of IT systems and experience in defining business requirements.
- Expertise in CRM/D365 and other sales automation and reporting tools, such as PowerBI.
