Senior Safety Systems Engineer

As a Senior Safety Systems Engineer at ICE Engineering Services GmbH, you will take on a pivotal role in conducting comprehensive safety assessments for both systems and aircraft. Your expertise will be essential in producing all necessary certification and safety of flight documentation for various programs, including:
• Extensive experience in autonomously generating and evaluating safety calculations and documentation, ensuring compliance from the initial aircraft design phase through to entry into service.
• In-depth technical understanding of aircraft systems and integration, covering areas such as flight control, avionics, propulsion, hydraulic systems, landing gear, braking systems, and electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS).
• Mastery of safety standards and methodologies including ARP4754, ARP4761, Preliminary Risk Assessment (PRA), Zonal Safety Analysis, Common Cause Failure Analysis (CCMR), and various safety assessment techniques like FMEA and FRACAS.
• Define safety requirements within the broader context of aircraft systems integration and EWIS, ensuring all aspects are thoroughly addressed.
• Lead and facilitate significant technical integration discussions with key stakeholders across various aircraft systems, structures, and flight physics teams to swiftly resolve safety-related challenges.
• A Master's Degree in aviation or a related discipline.
• Over 15 years of dedicated experience in aircraft safety within major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), aircraft suppliers, or consultancy roles.
• At least 10 years of experience in signing safety certification documents.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in OEM safety teams, specifically as a Senior Safety Engineer.
• Proven track record of signing safety of flight documents for flight test vehicles over the last 5 years.
• Ability to mentor and train team members in:
• Safety Analysis Tools (such as CAFTA or equivalent)
• Verification and Validation Tools (like DOORS or equivalent)
• Design Software (e.g., CATIA V5)
• ARP 4754 & 4761 standards
• Design Assurance Levels (DAL) allocations
• DO-178B and DO-254 compliance
• FRACAS methodologies
• FMEA and FMECA processes
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in German is an advantage.
