IT System Administrator for Galileo Ground Segment

Job Summary:

We are seeking an IT System Administrator to join our team at DLR GfR mbH. As an IT System Administrator, you will be responsible for the maintenance and administration of the IT platform for the Galileo Ground Segment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and administration of the IT platform (Unix and Windows) of the Ground Control and Mission Segments for the 24/7 Galileo mission
  • Administration of user and root accounts on the elements
  • Installation and verification of new and replacement parts in the Galileo Ground Segment
  • Development of maintenance procedures for the Ground Control and Mission Segment systems based on existing documentation
  • Validation and Execution of maintenance procedures for deployed GCC hardware & software
  • Performing system tests including interface tests based on defined procedures
  • Documentation of the work and configurations in a ticket system
  • Research and implementation of innovative solutions to improve the IT systems
  • Periodic participation in the 24/7 on call maintenance service

Requirements:

  • Completed degree (Master's / Bachelor's) in technical or scientific engineering fields, such as computer science, telecommunications, business informatics, or comparable education
  • Solid knowledge of various operating systems such as Linux and Windows (Server)
  • Basic Linux skills and proficient use of the command line (Shell)
  • Understanding of network protocols and database systems
  • Experience in system/network engineering and administration is advantageous
  • Experience in server infrastructure maintenance (hardware, virtualization) is advantageous
  • Knowledge of Galileo or other navigation ground segment is advantageous
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and project management is advantageous
  • Willingness to adhere to strict security policies and regulations
  • Team orientation and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with other team members
  • Availability to support on-call service and occasional travel to other Galileo sites
  • Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory
  • German or Italian knowledge is an advantage
