Fotografiska, the photography museum, is the _Home of Contemporary Culture_. Founded in Stockholm, in late 2019 the Museum opened a treasured, historic landmark building in NYC’s Flatiron District. The iconic Stockholm and NYC locations are complemented by expansion in Tallinn, and a forthcoming Berlin Museum set to open in 2023. Fotografiska’s goals are simple: to build a more conscious world through the power of photography, to bring people together, raise awareness and inspire new perspectives.

Located at Oranienburger Strasse 60, Berlin’s Mitte, Fotografiska is housed within a unique historic and cultural landmark that will be home to an unexpected mix of world-class art, vibrant cultural programming, and exceptional dining experiences.

**The Role**

Our Assistant Director of Food and Beverage is strategic and innovative in establishing the operational systems involved in the planning, developing and ongoing success of the multi-outlet Food and Beverage environment at Fotografiska Berlin. They will ensure operational excellence by drilling into the smallest of details, while focusing on achieving the strategic short and long-term business goals of the multi-million-dollar Private Events operation. This role is equally visible front of house as with back of house operations and is a role model of continuous energy and improvement to provide the highest level of hospitality to all Fotografiska Berlin Members, Guests and Staff alike.

Reporting directly to the Fotografiska Director of Food and Beverage with a dotted line to the Fotografiska General Manager, they will have a clear interface with the Fotografiska Executive Chef and Events Management teams. The role is expected to navigate through ambiguity and will need to be excited by areas of opportunity and lead others to follow the example. The Fotografiska Assistant Director of Food and Beverage is a representative of the CultureWorks Global Food and Beverage program, setting the highest of service standards, delivering our core values of generosity, authenticity, curiosity, and kindness.

**Requirements**:

- An average of 10+ years managing food and beverage operations in a highly-visible, high hospitality-focused cultural environment or related industry.
- Experience working in conjunction with multiple business units curating luxury dining and event experiences across various outlets and audiences.
- Relative experience, displaying a curated portfolio of proven high-end event and dining experiences while managing a diverse staff in both front of house and back of house environments.
- In the absence of the Director of Food and Beverage on premise, the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage leads and represents all F&B teams and is responsible for the overall success of the day-to-day F&B operations at Fotografiska.
- Setting the highest standards of service that are unique to the CultureWorks group, consistently working to improve the delivery of service, implementing all systems to ensure the smooth running of service.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant statutes including; Occupational Health and Safety, Liquor Act, HACCP, BMEL, BVL and BfR legislations.
- Willingness to work a varied schedule, including weekends and evenings to maintain the integrity of the food and beverage operations.
- The role requires full professional fluency in both German and English.

**Administrative**:

- Regularly meet with internal F&B and Event Leadership teams to develop and execute standard operating procedures identifying discretionary revenue opportunities while maintaining the integrity of the brand.
- Organize and meticulously govern Private Events unit paperwork and inventory processes as needed and in conjunction with business objectives.
- Drive internal teams to meticulously manage the physical appearance and behind the scenes operations of a first-class cultural institution.

**Team Management**:

- Assist all F&B Leadership to hire, train and manage elevated teams to uphold standard operating procedures created and directed by the General Manager in tandem with building-wide procedures.
- Set elevated standards of professionalism and discipline, developing, and maintaining high-performance front-of-house teams, ensuring ongoing Staff, Member and Guest rapport.
- Clear and consistent communication with the P+C department to maintain effective staffing levels supporting future growth and expansion. Educate and support hiring Managers to become comfortable identifying and engaging with top talent proactively and as there is a hiring need.
- Develop written documentation in preparation for the hiring and training of necessary staff, following onboarding protocols for new staff.
- Development of maintenance programs and staff culture, ensuring staff are trained to handle equipment safely and the venue is treated with respect so that maintenance costs are kept to a minimum.
