IAF is a leader in quantum technology. We focus on the characterization and reduction of intrinsic errors in quantum hardware and the development of fault-tolerant algorithms, enabling early utilization of quantum computers.

Our work includes the detailed analysis of errors in quantum systems, which allows for efficient simulation on classical computers and promotes the development of error correction protocols.

Through previous projects, we have gained experience in creating realistic error models, and we now aim to compare different platforms to improve the understanding of quantum computing technologies.

**What you will do**

The role within our "Quantum Information" group will be central in researching and modeling these complex quantum phenomena. It will encompass both theoretical work and insights into experimental aspects to provide a comprehensive picture of the error sources in modern quantum systems and to develop practical solutions. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and the opportunity to work at the forefront of quantum technology offer an exciting and challenging career opportunity.

Your main responsibilities are
- Participation in quantum computing projects
- Programming quantum algorithms with Qiskit
- Assessment of a possible future quantum advantage
- Crosstalk characterization, noise modeling, error correction
- Building physics-oriented models - Comparison between different platforms
- Simulation of quantum computing hardware, especially NV centers in diamond, in collaboration with experimental groups at IAF
- Analysis of realistic error models for superconducting and defect-centere quantum

**What you bring to the table**
- A completed scientific university degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields
- Interest in scientific content from both experiment and theory
- Programming skills, preferably Python and Git
- Experience in programming quantum algorithms is advantageous
- Good knowledge of English
- Structured thinking, creativity in problem-solving, teamwork
