**Das sind wir**:
The work group “Radiation Osteoimmunology” of the Translational Radiobiology (Prof. Dr. Gaipl) is offering a doctoral student position starting in June 2023. The doctoral student will be working on the effects of x-rays, cosmic radiation (mixed beam set-up) and protons on bone cells and their interaction with the immune system. A special focus will be set on age, gender and inflammatory background-mediated effects also with regard to radiation protection aspects. The applicant will work on the BMBF-funded, highly translational Junior Project TOGETHER within the NukSiFutur call.

The project will focus on gender
- and age-specific osteoimmunological responses to low doses of ionizing radiation with x-rays, mixed-beams and protons.

Die Aufgaben
- you will be expected to partially work in Darmstadt at the Heavy Ion Research Center (Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung, GSI).
- you will be looking into osteoclasts, osteoblasts and chondrocytes of inflamed and healthy model systems.
- you will be working with state-of-the-art models, including functional immune assays.
- you will be implementing methods of multicolor flow cytometry, (multiplex) ELISA, colorimetric Assays, qPCR,microscopy and RNA-Seq.
- you will present your results in national and international conferences and will publish them in peer-reviewed journals.

Das Know-how dafür

you hold a masters or equivalent degree in life sciences, including biology, immunology, molecular medicine, or related fields.
you're a highly motivated and curious applicant showing a high degree of intrinsic motivation and independency to bring in your own ideas and to develop the project.
Proficiency of the english language, written and spoken.
you should have experience in immunology and cell culture.
Experience in flow cytometry and animal models (FELASA B) is a plus.
