You want to actively shape the energy transition and write your thesis in this area? Here you will find the experts and the environment to realize these goals. Our group "Power-to-Liquids" at Fraunhofer ISE deals with the conversion of "green" hydrogen from renewable electricity into liquid energy carriers ("e-fuels") and chemicals. Methanol is a promising target molecule in this context, as it has favorable physical properties for transport and storage, and also has the potential to be used in the transport sector (maritime/aeronautical fuels/intermediate...etc) without significant infrastructure adaptations ("drop-in fuel/chemicals"). For the energy-efficient and economical production of methanol, an innovative process is being developed at Fraunhofer ISE, which will be investigated in detail within the scope of the planned thesis. The topic of your thesis is the "Simulative investigation of efficient power-to-X synthesis - the potential of integrating heat pumps" and in particular the investigation of the combination of power-to-X processes and heat pumps.

For our group "Power-to-Liquids" we are looking for a student assistant with the opportunity to write a bachelor, master or diploma thesis as soon as possible.

**What you will do**
- You will familiarize yourself with the Aspen Plus software.
- You compare several solution methods for different process simulations.
- You simulate process engineering processes (e.g. reaction, distillation) for the production of synthetic fuels.
- You work on process integration concepts and heat network development.
- You prepare presentations on the progress of your work.

**What you bring to the table**
- You are studying chemical engineering, process engineering, energy engineering, environmental engineering or a comparable field.
- You have basic knowledge of reaction engineering and thermodynamics.
- Previous experience in working on process modeling and simulations is helpful, but not mandatory.
- It is important to you to contribute to your team and to achieve common goals in interdisciplinary cooperation.
- It is easy for you to establish and maintain trusting contacts.
- You formulate your ideas in a comprehensible way and listen attentively to others.
- Ideally, you have already worked with Matlab or ASPEN Plus.
- You have already successfully demonstrated your excellent written and spoken English skills.
