Job Description:


The Alibaba.com Europe Buyers' Team is looking for a talented, motivated Business Development Manager to help shape the future of our B2B Marketplace. The role offers the unique opportunity to develop a local wholesale business in Germany whilst also working cross-functionally across various internal teams to execute high-priority projects.


The ideal candidate comes from the manufacturing or consumer retail organisation as a Business Development Manager, Buyer, purchasing or sourcing specialist or could be part of a buyers association within their industry. You will have the opportunity to help digitalise the world of e-commerce by seamlessly connecting your buyers with a vast array of suppliers.


Key responsibilities:


  • Sourcing Expertise: You will be establishing a partnership between local wholesale businesses/manufacturers to connect them to the best source of supply through the Alibaba.com marketplace
  • Global Trade: By being an expert in buying you will select local large-scale businesses and connect them to our rapidly expanding inventory on our platform
  • Communication Expert: Understand customer needs and demand and work with internal cross-functional teams to offer the best solutions for customers


Minimum Qualifications:


  • 3-5 years experience in business development, purchasing or buying
  • Strong familiarity with large-scale German manufacturers or retailers (e.g. Apparel, Automotive (OEM Tier 1/2/3) Furniture, Consumer Electronics)
  • Expertise in international trade and importing regulations
  • Hands-on mentality with a collaborative approach in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • German (Native or C1) and Business fluency in English
