Ihr ArbeitsplatzOur research group at the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Sciences of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is dedicated to investigating the molecular mechanisms that control cell division in animal cells. We employ innovative methods and state-of-the-art technologies to study the processes of cytokinesis and the formation of the contractile actin-myosin ring. Our interdisciplinary team combines the model organisms C. elegans and human cell cultures to gain deeper insights into cell division. The research group offers a cutting-edge laboratory environment, access to first-class instruments, and a dynamic, international working atmosphere. We actively encourage participation in scientific conferences and collaboration with other research institutions worldwide. Our goal is to contribute to the advancement of understanding cell division and its disorders through groundbreaking research.
Ihre Aufgaben
Dissection molecular mechanisms of cytokinesis in C. elegans using:
- quantitative live-cell microscopy
- biochemistry
- molecular biology
- genetics
- screening approaches
Ihr Profil
- Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, life sciences, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of cell and molecular biology
- Experience with biochemical techniques is beneficial
- Familiarity with genetic approaches, screening methods and C. elegans is desirable
- Ideally, practical experience in quantitative confocal live-cell microscopy
- Experience in the application and analysis of microscopy techniques is beneficial
- Very good knowledge of English (at least C1 level)
- High motivation and interest in fundamental questions of cell biology
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
