The following compulsory internship is offered in the Materials & Components for Future Powertrain team. As part of the pre-development of electric motors, characterization and qualification of rare earth magnets (iron-neodymium-boron) for current hybrid and electric vehicles as well as for technology projects (HRE Free Magnets) are carried out. The main task is to carry out material characterizations independently (after training), in particular the determination of magnetic characteristics and losses, which are necessary for the design of efficient electric drives, as well as to evaluate the results and to document them in the form of diagrams and short reports and (if desired) to present them. A further activity may be the training of the subsequent trainee in the above-mentioned magnet characterizations and documentation.
These are some of the challenges you will face:
Measurement of magnetic properties (hysteresis curves - coercivity vs. remanence) Determination of the magnetic dipole moment using a Helmholtz coil Determination of magnetic volume using Archimedes apparatus Determination of the loss characteristics of hard and soft magnets Independent coordination, organization and execution of the work Evaluation and documentation of the data and presentation of the results in the form of diagrams and PowerPoint short reports Presentation of the results to the core team (if requested by the intern) Familiarization of the subsequent intern with the activities listed above Qualifikationen Degree program with content in electromobility; automotive engineering; materials science; materials engineering; physical chemistry or chemistry Confident written and spoken German and English skills Confident handling of MS Office (Word; Excel; PowerPoint; Outlook) Commitment and ability to work in a team Analytical mindset and strategic way of working Personal skills: Ability to work in a team; reliability; technical skills in laboratory applications and carrying out measurements as well as interest in the topic: Into the future with electromobilityPlease note that your internship at this location must have a prescribed mandatory component.
