Internship Opportunity in Powertrain Procurement

Role Overview:
The Powertrain Procurement and Supplier Quality division at Mercedes-Benz Cars and Vans is pivotal in managing module purchasing and ensuring supplier quality for all powertrain components. This department also oversees project management for new engine and transmission initiatives, particularly in light of the ongoing transition to electromobility, which presents numerous challenges and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
As an intern, you will actively participate in a team setting, gaining hands-on experience throughout the procurement process. Your tasks will include:

  • Conducting procurement market analyses and benchmarking activities.
  • Formulating and executing global procurement and transformation strategies.
  • Engaging in market inquiries and negotiations with suppliers, adhering to established procurement protocols.
  • Preparing bid comparisons and drafting decision-making documents.
  • Organizing, executing, and assessing international supplier meetings, including negotiations and workshops.
  • Assisting with ongoing projects, managing change control, and overseeing contract management.
  • Facilitating coordination between purchasing and related departments such as strategy, development, quality, logistics, and production.

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess:

  • A degree in (industrial) engineering, economics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both German and English.
  • An analytical mindset with effective communication and organizational abilities.
  • A strategic approach to work, coupled with teamwork, motivation, and reliability.
