Scientist Quantitative Genetics

We are looking for Quantitative Genetics Scientist (m/f/d) for Sugar Beet and Cereals for an unlimited period and on a full-time basis within KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA at our headquarters in Einbeck (Lower Saxony / Germany).

In this position, you will strongly collaborate with the sugar beet and cereals crops breeding and research teams worldwide areas as well as business development and marketing. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the implementation of our new digital strategy.

Your Responsibilities: 

Enhance Product Development: Elevate our product development processes by crafting and validating cutting-edge analytical methodologies tailored for diverse breeding programs. Biostatistics Implementation: Spearhead the deployment of biostatistical instruments, offering critical decision-making support to our breeding experts. Management of Breeding Technology: Oversee the Breeding Technology operations within our Sugar Beet and Cereals breeding initiatives. Strategic Support: Provide pivotal assistance to our breeding teams in formulating strategic enhancements for breeding program efficacy. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Foster collaborative efforts across various functions and crops to integrate quantitative genetics and breeding technology insights into our breeding programs.

Bring in your strength:

University degree (PhD or M.Sc.) in agricultural sciences with a focus on plant breeding and quantitative genetics, biostatistics or similar qualification Experience to translate business and breeding demands into predictive models is appreciated Passion for data analysis and ability to handle large data sets, including proficiency in related statistical software (R, Python, Julia) Strive for value-adding solutions within multi-disciplinary teams Project management and good communication skills (in English is a pre-requirement, working professional level in German would be a big plus)
