Fiber Optic Production and Lab Test Business Development/Product Manager

We are seeking a self-motivated business development person for our Fiber Optics Production and Lab Test (FOPLT) Division, a critical growth area supporting the rapid evolution of optical supply chain into AI and advanced communications technologies. This is a technical position that requires engagement with new customers on new applications and developing technologies. You will be responsible for finding new opportunities in the EMEA and wider region.

The successful candidate will bring 5+ years of experience in fiber optic test and measurement, with a proven track record in a related technical field and with experience of dealing with customers.  The position is based in Europe, reflecting our taking advantage of transformative AI and Quantum technologies being developed in the region. 

In this role, you will drive new opportunities in our core and adjacent markets, identify new customer logos, and accelerate new product adoption. You will need to be comfortable in a customer-facing role and have the ability to understand customers' technical needs and match them to VIAVI's capabilities. You will play a key role in providing market intelligence to shape our R&D roadmap and ensure our solutions meet the future needs of the rapidly changing field of fiber optics for the AI sector.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop a global business development strategy for the FOPLT business unit and help build an L&P focussed team in SEA.

• Deep understanding of the market and competitor landscape to strategically position the FOPLT unit to increase revenue and market share as well as strengthen its competitive position in the industry.

• Maintain relationships with new customers and work closely with sales to help close deals. 

• New logo adoption & design wins.

• Ensure sales and channels are aware of our new products for emerging markets.

• Provide input on product direction and strategy.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

• More than 5+ years in a fiber optic-related role.

• Degree in physics/engineering field required with MSc or PhD preferred.

• Knowledge of fiber optics and especially test and measurement in a lab and production environment.

• Broad technical knowledge and understanding.

• Fluency in English. Fluency in a European language is highly beneficial but not required.

• Candidate must be able to travel up to 50% to domestic and international locations for customer meetings, sales engagement, training and internal meetings/workshops.
