Role Description
The Accounting Assistant provides essential support to the finance and accounting team by handling day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with reporting and reconciliations. This role ensures that accounting processes are executed efficiently and in compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and proficient in accounting principles, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and tracking.
- Prepare, review, and reconcile financial transactions and statements to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records, ledgers, and supporting documentation.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
- Coordinate with vendors, clients, and internal departments to resolve billing or payment discrepancies.
- Process and record employee expense reports, reimbursements, and petty cash transactions.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, internal controls, and relevant regulations.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Assist with general bookkeeping tasks, including data entry, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Monitor and track financial transactions to identify errors, discrepancies, or inefficiencies.
- Collaborate with the finance team to streamline accounting processes and improve operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; diploma or certification in accounting is a plus.
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance support roles.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, practices, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, taxation, and compliance standards is a plus.
- Professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new accounting systems, tools, and processes.
