Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Essen, Germany for a Technical Director – Mineral Processing. The Technical Director will be responsible for overseeing mineral processing projects, managing teams, leading research and development initiatives, and ensuring the successful execution of software development projects. The individual will also be responsible for project management, including planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to deadlines and within budget.

These senior professionals will play a dual role: driving project execution across the full lifecycle while also contributing to business growth and client relationships in the worldwide market.

This is a strategic opportunity for individuals who can balance hands-on technical expertise with executive-level leadership and influence, while also supporting Client's worldwide operations — with key markets including South America, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Key Focus Areas

• Lead projects across the entire lifecycle — from concept and feasibility studies through detailed design, execution, commissioning, and handover.
• Provide technical authority through design reviews, engineering validation, and practical problem-solving.
• Take ownership of tender preparation, proposal development, and bid evaluation, including drafting technical specifications.
• Contribute directly to detailed engineering work (calculations, drawings, system design) where required, in a lean team setting.
• Ensure effective project delivery across scope, cost, schedule, and quality metrics.
• Leverage industry networks and business connections to support Client's growth strategy and open new opportunities in the European market.
• Represent our Client as a technical director and business ambassador, strengthening long-term partnerships with clients and contractors.

Ideal Background

• 15+ years' experience in mineral processing, mining, or EPC project environments.
• Proven success in delivering end-to-end projects:
• Concept and feasibility studies
• Front-end and detailed engineering
• Execution, commissioning, and handover
• Strong technical foundation, with a track record in:
• Design review, validation, and technical problem-solving
• Tender preparation and technical proposal development
• Project management and delivery across cost, schedule, and quality
• Ability to engage directly in detailed technical engineering tasks when necessary
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or related discipline.
• Prior background with EPC contractors is highly desirable.
• Established industry network in worldwide, with the ability to generate business opportunities and strategic collaborations.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and cross-cultural communication skills.
