About the Role:
Our client in the Chemical Industry is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Global Category Manager specializing in Chemicals to join their procurement team. In this strategic role, you will be responsible for managing the global chemicals category, driving cost efficiencies, and ensuring the supply of high-quality materials for our production processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the company's overall supply chain strategy and work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize our procurement activities.

Key Responsibilities:
Category Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive category strategy for chemicals, aligned with the company's overall business objectives.Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with global and regional suppliers, ensuring the procurement of high-quality chemicals at competitive prices.Negotiation & Contracts: Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favourable terms and conditions, and manage contracts to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in the chemicals category. Stay informed about market developments, pricing trends, and supply chain disruptions.Cost Management: Drive cost savings initiatives through strategic sourcing, value engineering, and process improvements.Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure the alignment of procurement activities with product development and manufacturing needs.Sustainability: Promote sustainable procurement practices, ensuring that the selection and use of chemicals meet environmental and regulatory standards.Performance Monitoring: Establish KPIs for the chemicals category and regularly monitor supplier performance, ensuring continuous improvement.Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of global experience in procurement, category management, or supply chain management, preferably within the chemicals industry.Skills:
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work effectively in a global, matrixed organization.Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.Language: Fluent in English; additional languages especially German are a plus.
