We're on the lookout for a hands-on Engineering Team Lead (all genders) with deep expertise in Ruby on Rails and a proven track record of leading, mentoring, and growing software engineering teams. You'll play a key role in shaping our technical direction, fostering a high-performing engineering culture, and ensuring delivery of scalable, maintainable systems.

• Empowering a High-Caliber Engineering Team: Guide and inspire a team of experienced senior engineers — striking the right balance between authority, autonomy, and collaboration
  
  

• Driving Technical Vision: Take ownership of long-term technical decisions, refactoring paths, and architectural evolution without always having clear-cut answers upfront
  
  

• Merging Hands-on Coding With Strategic Leadership: Lead from the front, coding actively while still setting strategy, giving feedback, and facilitating growth
  
  

• Balancing Product Priorities With Technical Debt: Work closely with product managers to prioritize work that delivers user value and keeps our codebase healthy and future-ready
  
  

• Improving Processes in a Growing Org: Optimize development workflows and cross-functional collaboration as we scale — making sure our agility and code quality grow with us.

• Deep Technical Expertise in Ruby on Rails & Technical Leadership - You have extensive hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails in production environments and a proven ability to lead or mentor engineering teams working with this stack

• Strong System and Database Knowledge - You possess a robust understanding of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, and are skilled in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries for performance and scalability

• Cloud Infrastructure Proficiency (AWS) - You have practical experience working with AWS infrastructure, including the ability to integrate and manage cloud-based services to support scalable and reliable applications

• Innovative Thinking with AI Exploration - You bring curiosity and initiative to experiment with AI-driven approaches, leveraging them to unlock new product possibilities, improve efficiency, or enhance user experience

• Commitment to Software Quality and Testing - You advocate for testability and maintainability, have experience with end-to-end testing frameworks like Cypress, and actively promote best practices for testing within the team

• Full-Stack Awareness and Collaborative Mindset - You are familiar with modern JavaScript frameworks (preferably React, Angular, React Native), excel in cross-functional collaboration, and bring a proactive, continuous-improvement mindset that enhances both team performance and product quality

• Excellent Communication & Language Skills - You are a strong communicator and team player, with a solid command of English (both written and spoken) — essential for collaboration in our international team 

• Remote-first with flexible working hours – office optional in Berlin-Mitte or up to 90 days a year outside of Germany
