Role Overview – Senior Data Engineer

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role within our Data In Squad. You will design and maintain scalable big data pipelines and data products that power our applications and deliver business impact. While your main focus will be on big data application development, you will also leverage backend services and data analytics when needed.

• Join a high-performing team of 4 (you will be the 5th member)

• Report directly to the Team Lead in Data Engineering

Key Responsibilities

• Data Asset Ownership

Develop and maintain data pipelines and solutions built on large-scale location signals, places data, and audience attribute data — respecting SLAs, timelines, and budget.

• Pipeline Development & Deployment

Design, develop, and deploy robust data transformation pipelines using state-of-the-art data engineering technologies.

• Technical Leadership & Mentorship

Guide junior team members, share best practices, and elevate engineering standards.

• Innovative Data Solutions

Conduct R&D to ensure Adsquare remains at the forefront of data innovation in adtech.

• Data Monitoring & Dashboards

Create real-time dashboards to monitor pipeline health and support decision-making.

• Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Engage with stakeholders, work with cross-functional teams, and optimize solutions for high value and cost efficiency.

Candidate Profile

Experience & Background

• 4–6 years as a Backend Developer, Data Engineer, or in a similar role

Technical Skills — Required

• Strong programming skills in
Python, Scala, Java, and SQL

• Solid understanding of
functional programming principles

• Experience with large-scale data processing frameworks (e.g.,
Apache Spark
)

• Expertise with file formats (e.g.,
Parquet, HDFS, Iceberg
)

• Experience with both
SQL and NoSQL
databases

• Ability to handle large datasets (hundreds of GBs to many TBs) — tabular, geospatial, behavioral

• Familiarity with AWS big data stack:
Athena, EMR, Glue, Redshift, S3, data lakes

• Strong foundation in
data structures, algorithms, and design patterns

Nice to Have

• Experience with
Kafka
and
Flink

• Familiarity with orchestration tools (
Airflow
, Step Functions)

• Experience deploying infrastructure via
Terraform
and
Kubernetes

• Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering
