Head of Project Development – Utility-Scale PV

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced
Head of Project Development
to lead and scale our utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) project development activities. The role will initially focus on building and advancing a strong German pipeline, before expanding responsibility to international markets as the platform grows.
This is a senior, strategic position for a candidate who combines
hands-on PV project development expertise with a strong investment and financial background
, and who can bridge development, capital markets, and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end development of utility-scale PV projects, from early-stage origination through to ready-to-build (RTB) and financial close
- Build, manage, and prioritize the German development pipeline, ensuring projects meet technical, commercial, regulatory, and investment criteria
- Define and execute the strategy for expanding the development pipeline into selected international markets
- Oversee site acquisition, permitting, grid connection, environmental studies, and stakeholder management
- Work closely with investment, finance, and M&A teams on project valuation, financial modeling, risk assessment, and investment decisions
- Prepare projects for investment committee approval, financing, and potential divestment or joint venture structures
- Manage and grow an internal development team and coordinate external advisors, developers, and partners
- Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics across core and target markets
Your Profile:
- Extensive experience in utility-scale PV project development, ideally with a strong track record in Germany
- Solid
investment background
, such as experience in private equity, infrastructure funds, IPPs, project finance, or M&A - Strong understanding of project valuation, financial modeling, returns analysis, and investment risk
- Proven ability to assess and structure projects to meet investor and lender requirements
- Experience working across international markets or expanding development activities beyond a core geography
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and manage high-performing teams
- Strategic mindset combined with a hands-on, execution-oriented approach
- Fluent in German and English (additional languages are a plus)
