Reporting to the Senior Director - Cargo EMEI in London, the Director - Regional Cargo Operations Europe will be accountable for all aspects of safety and operational service delivery for Air Canada's cargo product in mainland Europe.
The position will be based in Europe.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Direct approximately 80 employees.
- Lead a management team responsible for general operations, resource planning and safety.
- Design and build a team structure capable of delivering the agreed objectives.
- Be an inspirational leader, and a role model with all behaviours and actions.
- Clearly communicate the agreed strategic goals for the team, and set clear SMART Objectives for all direct reports.
- Overall responsibility for the delivery of operational safety for Air Canada's Cargo activities within the European region, in accordance with Air Canada's safety standard, policies and procedures.
- Drive a Safety Culture within the region, with Air Canada teams and all any 3rd party service partners.
- Ensure Safety, Security and Service standards are observed, monitored, and practiced consistently, including Emergency Response and any relevant Environmental regulations.
- Develop and continually refresh a strategic operational plan for Europe, aligned with our commercial goals, to be agreed with the Senior Director.
- Work closely with our HQ departments to develop and implement an effective regional operational structure with our ground handling and ground transportation providers, including robust performance review mechanisms and processes.
- Act as the operational service relationship holder for regional heads of our global customers within Europe.
- Working with the Senior Director and HQ teams, responsible for developing/implementing a strategy for the various models of operation within the European region (i.e.: self-handled, outsourced, hybrid).
- Actively invest time building strong relationships as a respected industry professional with service partners and customers.
- Actively use the time spent at customer events, industry functions, trade fairs and conferences forging and developing industry relationships for the benefit of Air Canada Cargo.
- Build strong relationships and demonstrate an understanding of the dynamics at play to manage professional business relationships with customers and the Air Canada Cargo team.
- Active support for any business projects as may be required.
**Qualifications**
- A minimum of ten years cargo experience with a major airline, five of which should have been in an operational management environment, ideally encompassing a range of functions including facility management, safety, compliance, and industrial relations.
- A minimum of five years direct team management experience.
- Significant leadership experience of a large workforce, in a customer-centric and fast-paced operational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement action plans that achieve objectives and ensure delivery of our promise to the client.
- Experience and track record leading, motivating, and coaching a management team to success.
- Excellent relationship building skills.
- Results focused.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong influencing, leadership, analytical and coaching/development skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
