**About the Team**
The Global International Affairs team plays a leadership role across the WaterAid Federation to drive the design and delivery of WaterAid’s major influencing with key donors, international and multilateral institutions to achieve SDG 6. The team’s purpose is to convince influential political decisionmakers to prioritise water, sanitation and hygiene in their policy and funding agendas, and to create the conditions that enable everyone, everywhere to access WASH by 2030.
**About the Role**
**Requirements**:
**To be successful, you’ll need**:
- At least 3-4 years of experience working in an NGO, think tank or German governmental institutions in the field of development policy and/or advocacy
- Experience working on issues of German development policy
- Experience of developing and implementing advocacy strategies
- Strong political judgement and understanding of the German political environment and relevant parliamentary and policy processes.
- Ability to synthesize complex policy language and to seek out key facts and statistics that help explain complicated policy topics to broad audience.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work remotely and autonomously, with shifting priorities.
- Ability to work as part of a global, diverse team across time zones.
- Fluency in German at native speaker level, and excellent English skills are essential for the role.
**Although not essential, we also prefer you to have**:
- Good political network in Germany
- Knowledge of the EU decision-making process, in particular of the Council
