(1694). Today it has 340 professors and 20,000 students. Its research focuses on the material and life sciences,

the Enlightenment and social and cultural research.

The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty of Natural Sciences III, Institute of Agricultural and

Nutritional Sciences, Junior Research Group Breeding Informatics, is seeking to fill a position as soon as

possible, limited until Mai 31, 2028, for a

Research Associate for Bioinformatics (m-w-d)

full time.

Remuneration will be paid up to pay grade 13 TV-L, depending on the tasks assigned and fulfilment of the

personal requirements.

Work tasks:
The junior research group Breeding Informatics forms its own project and furthermore is integrated into four

developed in the project the position holder works in close collaboration with the cooperation partners of the

DiP consortia.
- Data analysis for experiments within our own LR sequencing unit
- Establishment of analysis routines for high-throughput data generated with our automation system (LHR) for

genotyping, epigenetic screenings of DNA methylation and screenings of metagenome samples using ONT
- Implementation of AI-supported analytical methods for breeding to integrate multimodal data
- Establishment of analytical workflows for single-cell transcriptome data analysis of plants
- Construction of pangenomic analysis routines for wheat and specialty crops
- Active participation in project meetings and organization of training events
- Writing and publishing scientific articles and presenting results at conferences
- Participating in the development of projects and contributing ideas
- Establishment of an independent focus within the research activities of the junior research group and further

development into independent third-party funded projects is desirable

Prerequisites:

- Completed scientific university degree in bioinformatics or related disciplines
- Doctoral degree desirableor comparable work experience in bioinformatics or related disciplines
- In-depth expertise in the analysis of long-read sequencing data
- Many years of experience in the development and implementation of reproducible analysis routines in the

context of genomics and pan-genomics for the analysis of large data sets in HPC environments
- Excellent academic record with successful publication record
- Initial experience in acquiring third-party funding
