The energy sector is currently facing a strong transition towards **digitalization and automation** driven by decentralisation of (flexible) generation and increased market dynamics. In order to handle the resulting increased complexity efficiently, Statkraft makes use of algorithmic trading and virtual power plant solutions that automatically balance renewable generation, steer asset flexibility in real-time and run trading activities.

A crucial input is the forecasting of variable renewable energy production across Europe. We are thus looking for an addition to our Algorithmic Energy Management and Analysis team located in Düsseldorf. The focus is to improve the short-term forecasting of renewable energy production.

**Job Description**:
**Learning on the job**: You will work on the pulse of short-term analysis and trading, developing tools and models, as well as supporting operational activities. You will work independently, but also supported by different units, such as analysis and intraday trading, and will be able to bring your fundamental knowledge of the energy markets to the highest level.

**Creativity and innovation**: An important part is the new and further development of models, as well as benchmarking and monitoring processes, which are based on time series and statistical data analysis.

**Contribute**: You will reinforce from the very beginning the further development and improvement of our forecasting models for wind and solar production, and support the day-to-day trading activities.

**International working environment**: You will work in an English-speaking and highly international department, which is characterized by competence, creativity, willingness to innovate and a friendly atmosphere.

**Qualifications**:

- Enrolled in a university, ideally with a business, engineering, or science background
- Solid mathematical and statistical skills
- Strong programming affinity (Python at best)
- Experience with machine learning, time series analysis, and statistical modelling is a plus
- Proactive and independent way of working
- Very good English skills to ensure optimal collaboration in an international team
