Cambrium’s mission is to trigger the next wave of material innovation. We enable new biomaterials in cosmetics, fashion and plastics by harnessing nature's building blocks. We have built a platform based on an automated laboratory, machine learning and synthetic biology to design and develop novel protein materials with enhanced chemical and physical properties.
Your role
As Cambrium’s Head of People, you will be an essential part of our Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO. As an early employee, you will have an outsized impact, shaping the company through your experience and efforts.
The Head of People is a strategic and innovative thinker who is able to translate strategy into operational and project plans, as well as business and commercial goals into a highly engaging and robust people strategy.
**What you can expect to do**:
- Build your own team: initially hire 2 direct reports and expand team with needs of the company
- Evaluate, develop and implement best in class people strategies with the goal to create a trusting, supportive, and mission driven culture that fosters personal growth across the organization
- Translate the business strategy, vision, and values of Cambrium into a comprehensive People and Development Strategy (encompassing attraction, recruitment, onboarding, engagement, reward, retention, cultural development and talent development)
- Inform and coach the leadership team and relevant departments to ensure that they are informed and engaged with the People and Development strategy
- Lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of training, tools, interventions and continuous improvement to meet changing business needs and priorities
- Create People and Development metrics and regularly communicate them to enable the leadership team to monitor the impact of strategies and bring attention to areas of success and areas needing improvement
- Monitor legislation in the area of People and Development and communicate changes, as well as an assessment of their effect on the business
- Prepare, review and monitor financial budgets as they relate to personnel across teams and own the People team budget
- Be responsible for the skillful administration of People Operations Software
- Responsibility for championing and continuously improving our policies and approach toward Diversity and Inclusion
- Participate in the development of the quarterly and annual Business Plans
- Direct the development, achievement, and evaluation of the People team, and organization at large
**Profile**:
**You'll be a great fit if you've**:
- Led and inspired a successful People team as well helped shape an organization as a whole. Bonus points if you've led an organization through large growth phases.
- Created people related policies, processes and strategies
- Managed information, can interpret and present high
quality written, oral and numerical information in a digestible way
- (at a minimum) experienced overseeing general and technical recruiting with a desire to expand competency in overseeing scientific recruiting

- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- At least 4 - 5 years of human resource management in a global startup environment experience preferred.
